Smart meters

Montage of Smart meter imagery

Smart  meters allow consumers to measure and record energy consumption in short intervals. Smart meters are also capable of two-way communication, which allows energy providers to read and control features of the meter remotely.

Immediate benefits of the smart meter include:

  • improved accuracy of meter readings
  • early detection of power quality issues
  • improved monitoring of power outages to assist maintenance crews in reducing restoration times

Future benefits will include the ability to install an In-Home Display (IHD) to help you monitor your energy use.
