Dalyellup Substation transmission line route options - community workshop

The proposed Dalyellup Substation, to be established to the West of the intersection of Bussell Highway and Centenary Road, is to be connected into the existing electricity network by a double circuit 132 000 volt transmission line. Western Power is currently developing a set of line route options for this transmission line following identification of the preferred corridor discussed during the session on 1 March 2012.

These options will be analysed over the coming months and will be further evaluated during an options deliberation workshop with stakeholder and community members, with the goal of choosing a preferred line route by July 2012. Western Power would like to invite you, and any other interested community members, to this workshop to consider specific line route options.

Please find the workshop details below:

Date: Thursday 31 May 2012
Venue: Dalyellup Community Centre
Time: 5.30 pm – 8 pm
Refreshments provided

RSVP: Joanne on 1800 012 498 (free call) or email rsvp@bodhialliance.com.au

The workshop will commence with a presentation about the project and the line route options under consideration. We will then break into small groups to consider the options with the purpose of identifying and clarifying community priorities and preferences. An independent facilitator will be used and your feedback will be captured.

NB: Western Power intends to conduct further workshops for the Picton to Busselton transmission line project in May and June 2012. More details to follow.

DIY engagement

If face to face engagement does not suit you, we would still really like to hear what you think about the project and any further associated constraints that we may have missed or opportunities to be doing things differently. Alternative options are:

  • fill in an online survey on project options (a link will be posted once options are finalised)
  • send us photos of areas that you are concerned about, whether that is from an environmental or visual impact point of view, or anything else
  • call or email our Customer Service Centre with submissions on 13 10 87 and enquiry@westernpower.com.au

We will be seeking additional suggestions from the community for alternative engagement methods.

History

Previously, Western Power commenced planning for several of the projects currently being proposed. These projects were placed on hold as Western Power revised its planning strategy and timelines in response to a reduction in the forecast demand for electricity following the global economic downturn. Western Power is taking an integrated approach with projects in overlapping geographical areas so these projects are now being addressed as one project suite.

The initial round of community engagement sessions took place 27 February to 2 March 2012. A summary of the session (PDF 96 kb) and presentation (PDF 3 Mb) provided is available to download. Briefings with key stakeholders have also taken place with high-level opportunities and constraints captured.
