Disconnections

There are two types of disconnection – isolation and demolition.

Isolation disconnection

It is sometimes necessary to temporarily isolate your power supply to complete renovations and maintenance work.

This service includes the disconnection and reconnection of power to the property.

Power isolation of standard underground supply may also be performed by an electrician holding current certification for contractor connect changeover.

How to apply

Your electrician, builder or contractor usually applies for this service on your behalf so please check with them before applying.

For a standard temporary power isolation, complete the online network services form.

Should your connection be large or complex you may need to have your request assessed and the service quoted.

If you require our field service crew to undertake other work or remain on-site, please complete a quotation form.

Demolition disconnections

Demolition disconnections must be arranged through your electricity retailer. Before arranging a disconnection, the property owner or tenant (whoever has the electricity account) must finalise their account. If you are using a demolition company, they will usually organise this for you.

Overhead connection

A demolition request will arrange the disconnection and removal of the meter and the overhead service cable.

Underground areas

A demolition request will arrange the disconnection and removal of the metering equipment.

It is the responsibility of the owner to remove the underground cable between the pillar and the building.

Existing CT metering

If the metering installation has a CT (typically large premises) then the property owner needs to:

  1. Obtain a quotation for CT meter removal by completing an application for relocation/removal of Western Power assets form (PDF 110kb).
  2. Make arrangements for the removal of the underground consumer mains.
